I work with directors, executives, and boards ready to embrace systemic change for good.

I help organisations through the fundamental challenges of breaking with reductionist and linear thinking that dominated the 20th Century, to build capabilities and capacity fit for the 21st Century.

Mentorship Is Leadership

You want your people to care for the prosperity of the enterprise as much as they care for sustainable planetary and social impact.

These are not mutually exclusive. They’re systemically linked to your ability to mentor talented people. You need them to make the difference they want you to make to the enterprise.

The work of mentorship is making a difference in your people.

There are 3 main ways to begin working with someone like me:

People I challenge and mentor include:

  1. Leaders intent on a sustainable future

  2. Boards engaging complexity

  3. Young professionals taking charge

SHAPE NEW DIRECTIONS

Transform Your Systems

Build systemic capability in-house with me as your advisor in residence for 6 months.

  1. Recursive - thinking frameworks that can be re-used for problems of any scale

  2. Relevance - how you use information to reflect on the world and act in the world

  3. Realisation - make sense of the world and also be sensate in the world

Efficiency today trumps efficacy, effectiveness and ethics.

It shouldn’t. We can be better.

I am known as ‘The Mentor’s Mentor.

I’d welcome an opportunity to talk with you and explore if and how I might be of assistance to you and your organisation, board, or team.

Why work with me?

As a system thinking expert, I am obsessed with leadership and the stewardship of the future. My quest is to restore the fundamental tenet of leadership that is too often lost in managing the pressure for short-term advantage.

I work with leaders of complex enterprises, guiding thinking and practice in building capabilities to get work done now and into the future. I help leaders answer three questions:

  1. What is needed?

  2. How much is enough, and why?

  3. How do we best employ networks of capabilities as a complex adaptive system that can operate in a rapidly changing environment?

I gained my expertise in the public, private, and academic sectors as an experimental scientist, a consultant with top-tier strategy firm Booz Allen Hamilton, and general manager and company director with CAE Inc.

I have a PhD from the University of South Australia, on the topic “Systems approaches to strategy and execution in national security enterprises.” My thesis was assessed and accepted by one of the world’s leading systems educators and practitioners in Professor Michael Jackson, OBE who has written several books on the application of systems approaches. I continue research on complex systems governance with Professor Charles Keating, Director of the National Center for Systems of Systems Engineering, Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA, USA.

I am a member of the International Council of Systems Engineering and present at their annual conference on systemic interventions of complex systems and enterprises.
